The circuit starts on the South Coast of the island where you can get to know the traditional pottery of Lagoa, still made using the artisanal method. Continuing to the top of the mountain, Lagoa do Fogo, the second largest lake on the island and the crater of a dormant volcano with transparent waters, white sand, an endemic and abundant vegetation that classifies it as a natural reserve. In Caldeira Velha, the flora produces an exotic atmosphere along with a waterfall and a hot water pool where we recommend a bath. When visiting the city of Ribeira Grande discover all of its architectural and gastronomic heritage, as well as a liqueur tasting.
Moving on we reach Sete Cidades, one of the most famous areas of the region, being one of the seven natural wonders of Portugal. The circuit continues through the beautiful landscapes of Canário’s Lake, followed by the famous view of Sete Cidades Lakes at Vista do Rei (The King’s View), the view over Lagoa Azul (The Blue Lake) at Cerrado das Freiras viewpoint, towards the quiet parish of Sete Cidades. At the Escalvado Viewpoint you can see Ponta da Ferraria and the islets of Mosteiros, where you can find the green of nature mixed with the black of the volcanic origin of Ponta da Ferraria, where we suggest a bath in the pool where the cold water of the ocean mixes with the hot water from the thermal spring.
